Your Perfect Evening
Someone once asked me the question: “What is your perfect evening?” It was a question I hadn't thought of before and it made me take a step back and really think through the idea of perfection as it relates to my interpretation of it. Immediately, the picture that came to mind was my house full of the people I love most, surrounded by the things that I love most... family, a beautiful long table, and the most delicious food.
It was a picture of joy, conversation, and laughter filling the quiet spaces of my home. To me, the perfect evening is all about the sound of life - the many conversations happening at once, the picture of people feeling comfortable and connected. It is the stories being told at one end of the table that cause laughter to trickle down to the furthest seat. It is the generations of old puzzled by the verbiage of today, and the young ones soaking in the wisdom of those who have walked the road ahead of them.
It is life.
Home is where life happens. Sometimes we forget the beauty in being together (especially when we're home together a lot like many of us have been lately). We take for granted the moments of sitting together, laughing together, and doing life together. So even after a crazy day at home, plop down on that cozy sectional at night with your people, laugh about the small things, make life happen… and make it your perfect evening.
