Having two girls, we knew we wanted the bedroom and bathroom to be feminine. We also knew that our girls would return to the house now young adults. So a sophisticated space for them to rest and work on their summer online studies, while also creating their own sanctuary was the goal.
While we wanted the bedroom and bathroom to flow with the rest of house, we also wanted it to look like them. We went with a neutral color palate incorporating whites, creams and linens while bringing in pops of terracotta and grays.
We married modern accents, like the bedside table lamps and the occasional chair with more storied details, like the one of a kind Turkish rug and floral artwork.
The room is light and airy with rich velvet drapes and gold accents to bring warmth and depth. The layered bed linens are simple yet inviting.
The bathroom is beautiful! The handmade white tile is clean and crisp while the uneven ceramic edges compliment the storied details of the bedroom. The monochromatic color pallet of creams and whites feels timeless and refreshing.
I can’t talk about this bathroom without mentioning the sconces. They reflect the most magical light and they add the perfect touch of elegance.
The perfect finishing touch was the subtle wallpaper that adds just the right amount of texture.
I am in love with how it turned out and you just might find me getting ready in my girls bathroom instead of my own.
No home is complete for our family without the perfect hang space. The addition of the bonus room is just that. A casual space to lounge and watch our favorite show or hang with family and friends. We intentionally created two spaces within the large room. The lounge space intentionally includes a large sofa that fits all four of us comfortably. After all it is about being together!
The game area is intimate enough for two or welcomes additional seating for others to join in.
Hands down, my favorite piece in this room is the pendant. It raises the level of design in the space and is so much fun!
The welcomed entry cabinet, the decor accents and the lighting are all small details that make this large room feel small, cozy and like us!
Now that this project is finished, this mama’s nest is once again ready for her girls to return! They may only return for a season, but it is a season I will enjoy, I will cherish and I am incredibly grateful for. Our CREATE ROOM story is starting a new chapter but it is still good! Change can be hard but change can be beautiful. The walls of this house may be new to the four of us, but those who live in it have been together from the beginning….we are better together!
