Jades Create Room Story
I’m a windows down, wide-open sunroof on a sunny and 65-degree day, kind of girl. My fiancé tips his head back with a big laugh knowing that my gentle step on his toes is his queue to start leading us in a ballroom waltz.... which I should add, we are no experts at. Whether I’m studying on my college campus or working in the 31C office, you can find me soaking in all the simple joys and delight out of life.
The Lord says, He can do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20, NIV). It’s this verse and this truth alone, that inspires my hopeful, vibrant and adventure-seeking Create Room story.
Having moved five times in the past four years of college, my family’s house in our small hometown is where I call home. Every other place I’ve lived has been nothing but a temporary stay, but one that I’m grateful for. I’ve learned that wherever God takes me, I’ll embrace the things about home that I love most:
A place that allows me to explore my creative side, which is the kitchen; inspired by my Grandma Betty, who spent nearly all day cooking and baking. If you’ve only known a salad to be some tomatoes, cucumber, and romaine lettuce, you’ve got to come over and feast your eyes on the wonders of a true salad. The sunny front-porch holds peaceful and treasured moments with my love, as we slowly rock in two chairs and catch up between routine schedules. Warm, low lighting slows down my productivity-driven mind and textured accent pieces make me feel a sense of confidence, as if I know what I’m doing.
I Create Room by focusing my space on what reflects the hope, peace, and excitement that I have in Christ. Trust me, not every day is full of smiles and hair effortlessly blowing in the wind. Actually, that’s not at all what I experience when I roll my windows down. But, if the space I return to at the end of each day visually reminds me of the goodness I set my mind on, I might be one step closer to experiencing the immeasurably more that the Lord has in store.
